Meet Ninepatch
~ Penny ~
Goeiedag"
Hello, from Pennsylvania Dutch Country and the Endless Mountains region of
the Northern Tier, you know me as Ninepatch, but my family and friends call
me Penny. I grew up with deep roots in the Dutch Country, but my
grandfather brought is family north to work for the coal mine of Bloussburg.
They never returned to Lancaster County.
It was my grandmother who taught me how to quilt. In those days we used
scissors, instead of a rotary cutter, cardboard for a template and a Singer
treadle sewing machine. I still can remember sitting on her lap, guiding
the patches under the needle while she worked the treadle, my legs weren’t
long enough. I still have that Nine-Patch quilt and cherish it with all my
heart. It was in her memory that I use the nick name Ninepatch
Being the
peiceaholic that I am, there isn’t a quilting method or technique
that I haven’t tried; some more successfully then others. I have
been teaching quilting for almost 7 years and love seeing the faces
of new quilters when they finish their first top.
I look forward to getting to know you and share my love of quilting with you in Quiltchat.
